NextGen Environmental Research Inc. (NGE, est. 2017) is an environmental research and development firm based in Winnipeg that uses satellite and drone imagery to develop near real-time solutions for land, water, and ice environments. We are an interdisciplinary company that is growing the next generation of environmental professionals and technologies. We conduct novel research, develop new technologies and commercialize them.

NGE has developed a technical platform that supports software as a service (SaaS) where users subscribe to the technology we develop and publish. The near real-time platform connects to data from space agencies around the world, processes the images to scientific standards, adds value for specific outcomes, and publishes them to desktop and mobile applications for specific use cases.

Our software as a service will scale markedly in the next two years.

Employment Opportunity 1

Digital Marketing Specialist - Remote, in Canada

June 15, 2024 - March 31, 2025.

As NGE’s Digital Marketing Specialist, you will work closely with the company’s Director of Operations and the Senior Marketing Specialist. You will execute the corporation’s strategic goals prior to launch of two novel software to the outdoor recreation segment. At NGE, full time indeterminate employment follows a successful term position.  

In this role, the Digital Marketing Specialist will participate in the design, planning, and will be responsible for implementing digital advertising strategies and assisting with the management of customer information, and customer interaction. You must be motivated and work well in a closely linked and actively engaged team working towards hard deadlines. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide insight and analyze data as a digital subject matter expert.  

  • Consider objectives and concepts and create meaningful messaging in text and graphics. 

  • Provide marketing/campaign performance reporting using Google analytics.  

  • Optimize campaigns on all paid channels to achieve maximum amount of Return on Investment.  

  • Setup digital campaigns on all major paid channels including Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social platforms.  

  • Implement time sensitive marketing campaigns and track performance.  

  • Assist the team to craft digital ads.  

  • Work with content and design teams to build new websites and upgrade existing using Square Space. 

  • You will develop or implement your experience working with HubSpot and Mail Chimp. 

Qualifications:  

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, follows direction, learns quickly, and enjoys the outdoors in summer and winter. English is your native language. 

  • A recent graduate with up to 3 years' experience in a Digital Marketing/Advertising related role.  

  • Agency experience is considered a strong asset.  

  • Sold understanding of concepts such as measurement planning, customer journeys, content marketing and lead generation. 

  • You are a Canadian Citizen and 30 years of age or younger.

Digital Marketing Lead - Remote, in Canada

Start: June 1, 2024.

As NGE’s Marketing Lead, you will work closely with the company’s Director of Operations and will lead a junior digital marketing specialist. You will execute the corporation’s strategic goals prior to launch of two novel software to the outdoor recreation segment. At NGE, full time indeterminate employment follows a successful term position.  

In this role, the Digital Marketing Lead will, in consultation with the corporations President and the Director of Operations, develop and be responsible for the strategic goals, pathways, milestones and metrics for implementing digital advertising strategies. You will provide daily guidance to a newly recruited Digital Marketing Specialist to help you achieve goals and will report regularly to the Director of Operations. You must be motivated and work well in a closely linked and actively engaged team working towards hard deadlines.  

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Conceive and lead the implementation of marketing campaigns that ensure traction with the outdoor market segments in North America year-round.    

  • Provide marketing/campaign performance reporting.  

  • Lead the development and redesign of our existing corporate marketing assets.  

  • Optimize campaigns on all paid channels to achieve maximum amount of Return on Investment.   

  • Setup digital campaigns on all major paid channels including Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social platforms.   

  • Plan and manage the cost of trade shows in central Canada and the USA. Attend and participate in them.   

  • Guide the Digital Marketing Specialist about short-term priorities while on the longer-term tracks.   

  • Work with content and design teams to build new websites and upgrade existing using Square Space.  

  • Establish and track KPM’s.

  • Report regularly, in writing and by way of presentation, to the corporation’s leadership about recent steps and performance, current activities, and future steps.  

 Qualifications:  

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, follows direction, learns quickly, and has marketed in the outdoor segment in summer and winter with demonstrated experience.  You are more than comfortable in front of the camera. English is your native language. 

  • Post secondary and employment credentials that demonstrate a consistent career path that leads to this opportunity. 

  • Not less than 5 year’s experience in a Digital Marketing/Advertising role.   

  • Sold understanding of concepts such as measurement planning, customer journeys, content marketing and lead generation.   

  • Effective communication skills that cater to the market segments and the corporation.   

  • Excellent and natural on-camera poise and communication.
